Discover Costa Rica

Costa Rica is generally referred to as the Switzerland of Central America. For the Ticos and Ticas, as the locals also call themselves, this comparison is by no means pejorative, quite the opposite. In many of our conversations we have found that the Costa Ricans are quite proud of this comparison. But what has Costa Rica not everything to offer!!! For example, this country has long ago recognized the incredible value of an intact nature and has placed large parts of its land under nature protection. From our own experience we can recommend e.g. whale watching in the national park Marino Ballena, the national parks Baru and Carara or the small town Parrita. We would be happy to give you more information about these sights or help you with your travel planning.

We were always impressed by the warmth of the Ticos and Ticas and their pure joy of life.

Activities in the surroundings of Hotel Iguana Libre

In the immediate vicinity of our hotel you will find the Baru National Park. It is 3 -5 minutes away by car and we think that a visit is always worthwhile. During our own excursions there we have seen everything from sloths, anteaters and peccaries to capuchin monkeys. Perhaps the most famous national park in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio, is about 45 minutes away by car. The sea is about 5 minutes away and offers a real dream beach. Playa Uvita can be reached in about 20 minutes. The village of Hatillo has two restaurants, a mini supermarket and a gas station with restaurant. The next bigger village is Dominical, which you can reach in 15 minutes by car. With a large selection of restaurants, bars, banks, doctors, pharmacies and many shopping possibilities such as souvenir stores, you can find everything there. In about 20 minutes by car you can reach Uvita. This small town offers several, even large supermarkets, various tourist attractions such as whale watching, water sports activities and some, impressive waterfalls that you can visit. Very recommendable is of course the National Park Marino Ballena: The unique and dreamlike sandy beach in the shape of a huge whale fin!

We are also happy to arrange tours or organize transfers for you. Just ask us!
